Velankanni Church
Velankanni is a Special Grade Panchayat Town in Nagapattinam district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, 350 km south of Chennai (Madras) and 12 km south of Nagapattinam.
Annually, 20 million pilgrims flock to the shrine from all over India and abroad,[4] out which an estimated 3 million people visit the shrine during its annual festival from 29 August to 8 September.[3] The 11-day annual festival concludes with the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Mary on 8 September.
Due to the large number of pilgrims that visit this town, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), State Express Transport Corporation (Tamil Nadu) (SETC) and several private bus operators ply to cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Madurai, Nagercoil, Salem, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Trivandrum. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation-run a daily bus service to Changanassery.

Velankanni Beach
March to May is not at all a good time for visiting that place. It is due to the hot weather at that place. If you have plans to visit that place with your kids, be prepared to expend high for them. There are plenty of small scale shops nearby the beach.
Vellankani Beach is one of the most pious and scenic beaches on the Eastern coast of the Indian subcontinent. The Church of Our Lady of Health is located very close to the beach which makes it a pilgrim hotspot. Vellankani has a history of religion and culture. Street food is very famous in Velankanni. You can get fresh fish fry at the beach. More than 100 fish shops are there. Also in the hotel both South Indian and north Indian food available.
