Tharangambadi Nagapattinam
Tharangambadi is located at a distance of 34 km from Nagapattinam and it lies 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) north of Karaikal.

Tranquebar Museum
Tranquebar museum is situated inside the Danish fort in Tranquebar. The museum has a rich collection of major artifacts of the fort and the Danish empire. The bone of the whale is one of the major collections. The nice museum located on the shore. Glass objects, porcelain ware, steatite lamps, decorated terracotta objects, Danish manuscripts, Chinese tea jars, and lamps are displayed in the museum.
The museum also has a wide collection of stones, figurines, sculptures, swords, dagger, spears, sudai, wooden objects and a part of a whale skeleton.
Nice collection of artifacts, including some weapons, ceramics etc used by the Danish in India; the copies of two important treaties that changed the history of Tranquebar, namely the one between the Tanjore Nayaks and the Danes that led to establishment of their trading post here in 1618 and the handover of the post to the British in 1848 are placed here.
Recommended Duration: 2 hours. The museum opens at 10 AM and closes 5:45 daily and Friday closed

In 1620, the village of Tranquebar was acquired for the Danish Crown, by the Danish Admiral Ove Gjedde, by signing an agreement with the Raghunatha Nayak of the Tanjore Nayak Kingdom on behalf of the King of Denmark. Fort Dansborg
This is where the Danish rule in Tranquebar began. Fort Dansborg or as the locals refer to it “Danish Fort” was constructed in 1620 on land provided by the local king to the Danish. The fort is situated on the shores of the Bay of Bengal and offers stunning ocean views. The fort has a unique architectural design with columned structures and high ceilings. The fort has two floors, but most rooms of Fort Dansborg stay locked. Even today, one can spot a cannon pointing towards the sea! This fort is a must-visit to relive the era of Danish rule in Tranquebar. Dansborg is the second-largest Danish fort ever constructed, with Kronborg in Helsingør being the largest. Do visit the ramparts to get an unobstructed view of the Bay of Bengal. Do click some great pictures too.
