Muttom beach Tourist Attraction Kanyakumari - 2024
Muttom beach is one of the beautiful Clean crystal water filled with huge rocks beach in the Kanyakumari District of the Tamil Nadu State, India. Small but very beautiful and No entry ticket. It located 16 km from the capital town Nagercoil and reachable from Kanyakumari by road with a distance 34 KM. It is well known for the beautiful beach with some rocks and caves. More than hundreds of people come to the beach every day and spending their time on the beach shore. Muttom beach is known as the best sunset point in the district.
Since the beach is usually less crowded, it makes an excellent spot for tourists to enjoy its beauty. There is also a children’s park and a Christian retreat center called the ‘Rock Bible center’ just in view of the beach.
There is a lighthouse which was constructed by British India. The lighthouse, though near the sea, is situated 110 ft (34 m) above sea level. The structure was built when India was part of the British Empire until 1947. The lighthouse which is about 200m from the beach is 135 years old and still functioning. It is one of the oldest lighthouses in TamilNadu. The lighthouse premises has a museum, mini cafe, play area for kids and benches around to sit and enjoy the view. The visiting hours for the lighthouse is from 4.30 to 7.00 PM Tickets required for entry which costs very less. Between 5.30 to 6.30 PM is a very good time to visit the lighthouse to experience the view and the sunset. The museum explains the origin or lighthouse and the equipment used in olden days to function the lighthouse and few models of very famous lighthouses across the world.
The major occupation of people in Muttom is fishing. Muttom village is attracted by visitors because of its beautiful beach. The nearest villages are Esanthangu, Ammandivillai, Pillaithoppu, Azhikal, Kadiyapattanam and Manavala Kurichi. Major roads reach Muttom via Ammandivillai, Esanthangu, and Nagercoil
